Yūne Sugihara(杉原 有音Sugihara Yūne?, born Sugihara Yasuhiro (杉原 康弘) on July 8,1969 in Hadano, Kanagawa, Japan), is a Japanese musician andguitarist. Usually referred to by his stage nameSugizo(スギゾー?), Sugihara became famous in 1990s withJapanese rock band LunaSea, with who pioneered Visual Kei movementamong Japanesemusicians and left significant impact on the future style of J-rockguitarists.[1] Sugizois inclined to experiment with many musical genres to create own,even to demonstrate his political ideas and opinions.

Biography
Early Lifeand Career
Brought up by classical music as his parents played in the Tokyo MetropolitanSymphony Orchestra, Sugizo began to play the violin at agethree and later taught himself to play guitar and bass. In highschool, he became part of a school band called Pinocchio,where he met ShinyaYamada with whom he would join the band Slaughteralongside J and Inoran. Later RyuichiKawamura joined them and they formed the Visual Kei rock unit'Lunacy'. With J already a bass player, Sugizo switched to theelectric guitar, and as Inoran preferred to play rhythm guitar, hebecame Lunacy's lead guitar (and invented his familiar stagename).
The five performed in Machida Playhouse and other clubs. hide discoveredthem and signed them to Extasy Records. The band's name waschanged to 'Luna Sea'. In1997 yearlong break, all members except Shinya began their soloworks, while in 2000 group disbaned, and Sugizo pursued his solocareer.
He has had a wide range of solo work and collaborations: RyuichiSakamoto's campaign 'Zero Landmine,' musical director for H.Art Chaos (a contemporary dance company)'s 'Vertical Dream', andwork with Ken Nikai as musical director and a starring role inNikai's film Soundtrack. Sugizo released 'Parallel Side ofSoundtrack,' a compilation album inspired by the film. He laterstarred in Isao Yukisada's film Rock and Roll Mission, anda television by the aforementioned Ken Nikai called 'REDRUM.'
Sugizo also formed a few solo project bands. His first wascalled SUGIZO & THE SPANK YOUR JUICE, and later he formed SHAG,a psychedelic jam band. He also released two solo singles: 'SUPERLOVE' and 'Dear LIFE.'
In 2002, Sugizo accepted applications from new artists throughhis radio program on J-WAVE, whom he then produced and included onthe compilation album 'GLOBAL MUSIC.'
In 2003, Sugizo performed at the Full Moon Festival at Kyoto's Ninnaji Temple. Followingthe release of 'NO MORE MACHINEGUNS PLAY THE GUITAR,' a single withan intense anti-war message, he released his second album'C:LEAR.'
In 2004, Sugizo formed the acid rock band The FLARE withvocalist YUNA,a project that would last two years. Their musicexpressed anti-war, pro-peace values and in 2005 they performed atEarth Day Tokyo, Japan's largest event devoted to environmental andpeaceful causes.
In 2007, Sugizo began a new collaboration with Toshinori Kondoand REBEL FAMILIA, the leader of the Japanese dub world. In April2007, SHAG played the Nagisa Music Festival.

Currently Sugizo is a member of the superband calledS.K.I.N,along with Gackt, Miyavi, Yoshiki, and Ju-ken as supporting member.
In March 2008, Sugizo played at an X Japan reunion concert as a stand-in for Hide. In April2008, Sugizo took part in Juno Reactor's European tour.
July 23, 2008 Sugizo released his best album commemorating his10 year solo project, album titled Cosmoscape. Sugizo alsoconfirmed a solo concert that will be held on December 19, 2008 inShibuya-AX.
January 15, 2009 Sugizo arrived in Hong Kong alongside themembers of X Japan for the first show of X's world tour which willfeature Sugizo continuing his role as a stand-in for hide as thegroup play in venues throughout Asia, Europe and North America.
On May 1, 2009 A recent announcement on X JAPAN's officialwebsite, as well as on SUGIZO's blog has stated that he will jointhe legendary rock and metal group as their formal sixth member,following several appearances as a support guitarist in the absenceof late X member hide. SUGIZO will continue his role as a soloartist, as well as any future plans of LUNA SEA and Juno Reactor.Posting on his blog, he details his thoughts on joining, and whyhe's made the decision now, stating in an excerpt 'Right now, XJAPAN requires SUGIZO as its sixth member, and I want torespectfully fulfill their needs.'
December 2009,SUGIZO with his group Juno Reactor held another Europeantour;Holland,Germany,Czech Republic and Polland were country SUGIZOwas able to performed,as he had to flew back to Japan for releasingnew single 'Messiah' and 'Tell Me Why You Hide The Truth'.Bothsongs were released via itunes on December 16th,2009.
Personallife
Sugizo has a daughter named Luna Artemis Sugihara born on April27th 1996. His daughter once said she likes to be called by hermiddle name Artemis also known as Art. The birth of his daughterwas the inspiration for him to become interested in environmentissues.
Guitars
While in band Luna Sea, Sugizo almost exclusively used ESPguitars and has around 16 signature models with ESP Japan and same iswith electric violin. For his solo projects he often uses Fenderguitars and basses.
